Kos Harbour
Kos Harbour is the island’s main port situated on Kos’ northernmost edge, within walking distance from the Old Town and the city center. The imposing medieval Nerantzia Castle is the undisputed landmark of the port, while a plethora of antiquities and other monuments can also be found within a few hundred meters. The iconic harbour located right at the centre of Kos Town is wonderful to explore and is the starting point of various island tours.
Kos is the third largest island in the Dodecanese after Rhodes and Karpathos and the second most popular after Rhodes. Thus, it is connected to numerous other destinations, including Athens (Piraeus), Rhodes, Kalymnos, Leros, Patmos, Nisyros, and many more. Throughout the summer season, ferry crossings are more frequent and further routes are available to other islands, too. Moreover, local and Turkish ferry companies operate routes to Bodrum on the coast of Turkey.
The ferry companies that operate routes from Athens and other Greek islands to Kos, using either conventional or high-speed/catamaran vessels are Blue Star, SAOS Ferries, Dodekanisos Seaways and ANE Kalymnou.
